L A Raceway Honors Season Champions
By Rachel Knight
L A Raceway

SEDALIA, Mo. - Top 10 drivers in Hobby Stocks, Street Stocks, B
Modifieds and 305 Sprints were honored at the annual season
championship banquet that was held on Saturday, Nov. 7.
Fans from the track had the opportunity to voice their opinion on who
was their favorite driver by voting during the last race of the
season. With the votes tallied, Mike and Carolyn White revealed the
results to the driver's Saturday night.
Drivers also found out who were the hard chargers of the class
collecting the most points for passing during the feature events.
Danny Everts, of Knob Noster, took the season championship in the
Jim's Tire Service Hobby Stock class at the track for 2009. In the
seven years the track has been operating, no one had won back-to-back
season championships in the hobby stock class until Everts did for the
2008 and 2009 seasons.
Michael Tyler, of Knob Noster; Miranda Arnold, of Sedalia; Tanner
Young, of Green Ridge; and John Simpson, of Sedalia, finished in the
top five. Brian Martin, of Green Ridge; Harold Dump II, of Calhoun;
Michael Hudson, of Kingsville; Jacob Estes, of Sedalia; and Carolyn
Griesel, of Windsor, rounded out the top 10 in the season championship
race for 2009.
Arnold was awarded the "Fan Favorite" award and Simpson picked up the
"Hard Charger" award.
After a very tough season when Brian Ziegler, of Bates City, wrecked
his car and someone trashed his shop, Michael Mullins kindly let him
finish the season in his B Modified race car. Ziegler was able to pick
up the 2009 season championship in the Pitts Homes of Warsaw Modifieds
and the "Hard Charger" award.
Ernie Walker, of Sedalia, took second place in the run for the
championship and picked up the "Fan Favorite" award. Gary Lewis, of
Columbia; Josh Calvert, of Hallsville; and Jamie Trimnal, of Knob
Noster, picked up the top five places in the points battle.
Dustin Seevers, of Warsaw; Jeremy Lile, of Higginsville; Steve Bugg,
of Sedalia; Hammer Williams, of Concordia; and Jason Thompson, of
Concordia, finished out the top 10 drivers in the modifieds.
In the Specialty Sportswear/Gill Signs 305 Sprints, Tom McGarry, of
Alma, picked up the season championship with Matt Close, of La Monte;
Mike Schouten, of La Monte; Haley Arnold, of Sedalia; and Andrew
Turley, of Sedalia, topping the leaders in the class.
Timothy Wheeler, of Sedalia; Ryan Schlender, of Sedalia; Chris
Coleman, of Marshall; Lacy Harrison, of La Monte; and Greg Smith, of
Lincoln, rounded out the top ten drivers in the 2009 run for the
championship.
Turley and Schouten were awarded the "Hard Charger" honors as they
tied for being the best drivers by advancing the most positions in the
Friday night feature events. Arnold earned the honor of being the
season's "Fan Favorite" driver in the sprint car division.
Yet again, another record was set in the Xtreme Motors Street Stock
class at L A Raceway. Troy Reasoner, of Urich, is the first street
stock driver to pick up back-to-back season championships in the seven
years that the track has been running the class.
Kevin Perkins, of Sedalia; Jay Prevete, of Windsor; Danny Carroll, of
La Monte; and Brian Eckhoff, of Concordia, were named the top five
drivers in the division. Toby Morrill, of Sedalia; Ted Welschmeyer, of
Tebbetts; Marc Carter, of Warrensburg; Cody Frazon, of La Monte; and
Jake Jacobi, of Sedalia, finished out the season in the top ten.
Prevete was named the "Hard Charger" of the class and Perkins was
named the "Fan Favorite."
The first race of the 2010 season at L A Raceway will be Friday, April
9, with the return of the United States Modified Touring Series high
powered A Modifieds and Saturday, April 10, with the Winged Outlaw
Warrior 360 Sprints will roar to life on the 3/8-mile clay oval track.
The schedule and class rules for 2010 will soon be available online at
www.laraceway.com.
